Epoch

In this photographic and video project, I investigate the different emotions, anxieties, and influences that occur due to time. There are moments that feel calm, and the rush of hours fleeing feels still. I create tension by presenting opposing forces of anxiousness and calmness. The Pandemic has shifted our relationship with time and made many things pause. Yet, we still had to keep going as the clocks continued to tick.
It is easy to focus our attention on the time that is given to us, the time that we have to finish things, the time that we wish we had more of, the time that comes and goes, passes slowly, quickly. I felt myself doing this more frequently and recently with the pandemic. Getting caught up in these ideas created different tensing emotions. Trying to figure everything out by certain deadlines of my life, making the right timely decisions, even just day by day time as the clock changes and the sun sets felt overwhelming. Together my videos and still images allowed me to navigate and better understand my relationship and these feelings about time.
